Silage Storage System
There are three different silage storage systems. They are: bag, trench and drive –over pile silos.
Each one of them has specific qualities. To obtain high quality in great volumes, it is necessary to have bunker silos, which are trenches with floor and walls made of concrete. The bag silo works well with small volumes.
The drive-over pile silo is very easy to build but it has to be done with the floor as high, compacted and leveled as possible. Thus, there will be no complications when unloaded during winter time.
It is necessary to bear in mind the life cycle of the materials that make the silo: for example, a bag has to be done for the utilization period, but it cannot exceed a period of two years.
